Along the route of Roopkund Trek are fantastic views of Nanda Ghunti (6310 Mtrs.) and Trishul (7120 Mtrs.). The Buggyals of Bedni and Ali are carpeted with flowers most of the trekking season. The biggest attraction however is the mystery surrounding the lake. Over 300 people met their untimely death here some 500-600 years ago and nobody is sure how it happened, though a number of legends and stories relate the happening. The mystery lake continues to hold her secrets, only giving up some, every few years, during favourable warm – wet weather when skeletons of humans and horses are found on her shores.
An annual yatra known as “Choti (small) Jat Yatra” is celebrated every year around the end of August or beginning of September. Starting from Wan village and ending at Bedni Buggyal it is very colourful event, giving an insight into Gharwali culture.
